Premium Services for mGear Users

Do you have a tool or feature you’d love to see in mGear or ueGear?

With our Sponsored Development service, individuals and companies can support
the creation of specific tools or enhancements for the mGear or ueGear frameworks.
This is a chance to collaborate directly with the core development team and contribute
to the evolution of the tools we all rely on in Maya and Unreal Engine workflows.

You define the need, we develop the solution—and once complete, the tool is
released to the public under the MIT license
as part of the official mGear or ueGear project.

Example:
The SpringManager tool was developed through this program, sponsored by
Lofty Sky Entertainment, and is now available to the
entire mGear community.

Benefits:
  • Influence the future of mGear or ueGear
  • Collaborate directly with the framework’s developers
  • Get a tool tailored to your workflow and production needs
  • Support open-source development and give back to the community

Ideal for studios, freelancers, and technical artists looking to invest in
shared, future-proof rigging and animation tools.

We’ll follow up to explore how it can become part of mGear.

What is Sponsored Development?

Sponsored Development is a service that allows individuals or studios to fund the
creation of specific tools or features for either the mGear or ueGear frameworks.
These tools are then released to the community under the open-source
MIT license.

Who can sponsor a development?

Anyone! We welcome support from studios, freelancers, technical artists, and
anyone who wants to contribute to the growth of mGear or ueGear.

What kind of tools can I sponsor?

You can sponsor any tool or feature that fits within the scope of mGear (Maya) or
ueGear (Unreal Engine). This includes rig components, UI tools, automation
scripts, workflows, utilities, and more.

What is the process like?
  1. You submit your idea via our sponsorship form.
  2. We evaluate the request and follow up with a scope, timeline, and cost estimate.
  3. Once approved, we begin development with regular check-ins.
  4. The final tool is delivered and added to mGear or ueGear under the MIT license.
Do I retain any ownership over the tool?

No. All Sponsored Development tools are released under the MIT license and become
part of the official mGear or ueGear projects. However, your sponsorship will be
credited in the tool documentation and online.

Can the tool include specific features for our studio?

Yes, as long as they are generally useful for the community. Custom/private versions
can be developed as a separate, non-sponsored paid service.

How long does it take?

Timelines vary based on complexity, but most sponsored tools take 2–6 weeks from
approval to delivery.

How much does it cost?

Costs depend on scope and development time. A detailed estimate will be provided
after reviewing your proposal.

Will my company be credited?

Absolutely! Your company or name will be credited in the tool documentation,
changelog, and optionally on our website.

What happens after the tool is released?

We will take care of maintaining the sponsored tool to ensure compatibility with
future versions of mGear or ueGear. This includes bug fixes and integration updates
as the frameworks evolve.
